Hi All,
Have a question and am hoping someone here can answer.
Received a copy of my grandmothers death certificate - it says very little about her death except died of multiple inuries. Nothing else - I had heard from my mother that she was crossing the street and struck by a double decker bus - would there be a news paper article on such an accident and if so where could I find it? She died January 30th 1976 in Glasgow. It's not that I am goulish or anything I just wanted information on the accident and what happened to her.
Thanks
Kind Regards
Marion

Where in Glasgow? My Granny was killed in a similar way & it was certainly in the local & the Daily Record.
I will be in Glasgow in August if you can wait until then happy to look through the newspaper archives for you.
Nice to see Las Vegas on the TS map I have a very dear friend who hails from there.

So sorry didn't answer earlier - didn't know I had any responses! Thanks both for your response.
Thanks Joette appreciate your assistance - I think she was killed in Gorbals but I'm not sure. That's what my mother said. Her death cert is registered in the District of Glasgow, her home address was Glasgow and it says district 603 whatever that is. Let me know when you go and I will give you her name.
PS Vegas is a fun city - I'm actually australian born though, and sure wish I was back home right now!

By my understanding, since 1972 Glasgow City has been one large registration district, using register books 601 to 624, presumably in sequence as required. That logic seems to follow that they had started the third book (of 1000 entries each) by the end of January. It is reasonable to assume that the deaths are proportionally higher in number in the colder months of the year, so the books are likely to fill up quicker in January and February (and maybe December) compared to the other months.
So in that sense, the register book says nothing about the district in the city, only the tiime of year. In earlier years there were separate registers using separate registration district numbers in the different area offices around the city.
All the best,
AndrewP

My mums gran died in similar circumstances way back in 1929, where she was hit and killed by a bus on Dumbarton Road at Kelvin St (don't know where Kelvin St was by the way).
Her death cert in actually pretty detailed listing her injuries.
There was also an RCE issued, which again was very detailed.
I'm sure there must have been a mention in a local paper, but I've never yet checked it out.
