Hi ,
I am hoping somebody could help me with dating this photo.
Received a box of photos from my cousin and trying to name & date them is so frustrating(nothing wrote on the back!)
I know there are plenty of experts on this forum.
Thanks

Hello Keatley,
I’ll have a go before the experts get a chance.
The furniture’s no help as it could be a 50 year old studio prop.
The Gent has rounded points on his collar, wide tie, a three piece single breasted suit with two buttons on the coat. He has a WW1 to 1920s look about him but his gear could fit into 1930s even maybe. If it was WW1 he’d possibly more likely to be in a uniform.
The top half of the Lady with the V neckline would possibly fit well into a similar time period. Her bottom half however has a very long skirt, maybe it’s around ankle length when she’s standing and a pair of very distinctive high buttoned boots. They tend to look a bit pre WW1 but the rest of the scene doesn’t.
I think I would go for just after WW1, maybe 1919-25 when fashions were changing to a much more casual type. But that’s a guess and I’d definitely get a second opinion.

Have to say I'd agree with a general time of around the end of WW1 to the mid 1920s. The lady's skirt, while long, I don't think is floor length, and the man's outfit seems a bit informal to be pre-war. But then, I'm no expert! Hopefully one will be along soon.
