I would very much to be able to see two family wills.
One is from 1965, the other from 1989.
Is is possible to see these and if so where?

Hi Miss Poohs,
You can view them in person at the National Archives of Scotland in Edinburgh. The details are on their website. I don't know about the Mitchell Library.

When you go there you need identification e.g. passport and a bill or bank statement with your name on so that you can get a readers ticket. This is given to you there and then. They are very helpful.

One other thing to note: many of the records are not actually held in the archives...they require to be ordered in advance (min 24-48hrs notice) , so an initial phone call might be a good idea, to ensure you do not have a wasted trip (you can tell I speak from experience on this one, huh?
)
Best wishes

Alternatively you can also e-mail them with details of what you want to see.
You'll get an automated e-mail back first of all, but I've always found them very good at then replying fairly quickly with the relevant information, including which of the National Archives buildings you need to go to. Nothing more frustrating than assuming you need to go the east end of Princes Street only to find out what you want is at West Register House right down the other end of Princes Street
I go up to Edinburgh once a year to continue my research there and now always e-mail the National Archives about a week in advance to ensure everything is ready for me.
I do agree with Rae - they are extremely helpful when you're there.
Makes life much easier
Good luck
