Hi Folks,

Can someone be kind enough to look up a Charles Mowat on the 1891 census who was living at 6 Allenpark Street Largs,Irvine, Scotland on the 1881 to see if he is still at the same house 10 years later, his occupation was a fisherman.

Had a look, not at that address but there is a Charles Mowat Aged 33 in Fetteresso Kincardineshire.

I've tried searching for Charles on the 1891 census but to no avail? I have found him on the 1871 and 81 census but nothing for the 91...

I found him on the 1881 census with his mother Jane Mowat at 6 Allanpark Street, Largs, Irvine, Ayrshire, then his mother died in the year 1887 I was just trying to find out if he was still in this house.
He was down as 22 years old then in 1881, Jane Mowat is was my gggrandmother. His occupation was a fisherman. Can't find anything else
for him.

Sorry the Charles Mowat in Fetteresso not yours from what I can see.
He had a wife and a whole brood of children in another district of Kincardine. Although he too was a fisherman, a Salmon fisherman.

I have found 16 Charles Mowat's and none of them are him it must have been a popular name in the Mowat families.

Do you know Jane's maiden name?

Have you looked on SP for a marriage cert for Charles? or a death cert?

I've tried looking on the immigration lists to see if maybe he went abroad, but so far nothing.

If you give me his mother's maiden name I'll see if i can find anything else.

Hi Katie,

His mother's maiden name was PARR and the family came from Edinburgh her father was a shoemaker, and she got married in 1944 in Largs Irvine I have a copy of her marriage certificate.
