Hello All
Hoping to see if anyone can help us with a bit of a puzzle , most of the wifes family ( the dead ones anyway ) are buried at Dalbeth , when the wifes mother passed away in June 1982 her father tried to get a lair at Dalbeth only to be told by the undertakers that Dalbeth was "closed" They said that there was room in one of the family lairs for one burial only and as the wifes mother and father wished to be buried together this would not do. On one of our visits to Dalbeth we got talking to a regular visiter to Dalbeth who told us that he had never known Dalbeth to be closed and when we spoke to one of the girls at the Archdiocese she told us she couldn't remember it being closed ------Anybody out there remember Dalbeth being closed June 1982 ?
regards to all mr & mrs shortfuse

There are plenty of explanatins if you Google it and there may be a clearer example but this might help for now.St Peter's Catholic Cemetery is still in use. There had already been a cemetery at Dalbeth when this was opened in 1863; the much smaller and now derelict Dalbeth Cemetery off London Rd. St Peter's has gradually enlarged through the years. Originally it was sited only to the east of the burn, but now covers both sides up to the boundary with the bottling plant.
