The only one I can find is just off the Great Western Road at Dowanhill. What time scale are we talking?

Hi Paul,
I've not come up with anything precise.
There is a Huntly Avenue in Giffnock [G46] near Williamwood Golf Course.
The other candiate is a Huntly Gardens - but that's away in the North of the city.
What time scale are you looking to find the address in? and any other pointers to pinpoint it?

Hello Paul
I think Wilma is right. There is a Huntly playing fields in Clarkston too and at one time Clarkston may well have been in the parish of Cathcart. Muirend (couple of miles down the road) was certainly in Cathcart parish early 1900s. Once the housing estates were built in the 1930s in Netherlee, Stamperland and Clarkston they may have changed the parish to Busby.
There will be an expert out there who knows these things though

Huntly Gardens
Hi all
Thanks for all your help.
The street seems to existed in the early 1900's and it is in the Glasgow Post Office Directory for 1903/1904 but the only details it gives is that it is in Cathcart.
I did think it might in the Cathcart area as the person who lived there also lived at the Rose Villa Holnhead Road Cathcart from at least 1881 to 1901.
Thanks again
Regards
Paul

What form does the directory take?PaulB28 wrote:it is in the Glasgow Post Office Directory for 1903/1904 but the only details it gives is that it is in Cathcart.
is it an alphabetical list of streets or is it arranged street by street in areas?
For instance the Kelly's Directory would have a list of numbers on a street then indicate what street came next and which came next.

Hello All,
There's quite a few references to Huntly Gardens in the Glasgow Herald – many don’t specify a location, some are Glasgow, others are Kelvinside and a few others are Hillhead.
Here’s a couple of interesting items for Huntly Gardens and Holmhead Road. Looks like they were very close to the new (1885) Cathcart Railway Station, wherever that may be, and were to be affected by railway expansion.
Glasgow Herald (Glasgow, Scotland), Friday, February 6, 1885
CATHCART, – For Sale, by Public Roup, within the Faculty Hall, St George’s Place, Glasgow, on Wednesday, 11th February, 1885, at Two o’clock Afternoon (unless previously disposed of by private bargain).
That SEMI-DETACHED VILLA called ROSEMARY, with the PLOT of GROUND, attached, situated on the HOLMHEAD ROAD, CATHCART, within a few minutes walk of the new Railway Station. The House contains 7 Apartments, with all modern conveniences – For further particulars apply to Martin Mackay & Macquaker, Writers, 89 West Regent Street, who will exhibit the Title Deeds and Articles of Roup.
Glasgow Herald (Glasgow, Scotland), Wednesday, December 23, 1896
LANARKSHIRE AND AYRSHIRE RAILWAY SCHEME AS AFFECTING CATHCART.
Cathcart, December 19, 1896.
Sir, – As an owner of house property in the neighbourhood of Cathcart Railway Station, I have received a notice from the agents of above railway company in connection with the scheduling of certain property to be affected by the proposed new railway.
As there appears to be some doubt as to the real operations contemplated, I would suggest, in the interests of the property holders in the neighbourhood of Castle Gardens, Huntly Gardens, and Balmoral and Osborne Villas that a public meeting should be convened for the purpose of discussing this matter, and with the view of throwing some light on the interests likely to be affected before it be too late. Ordinary business men do not usually quite understand plans, and practical information on the matter is necessary. – Yours, &c., R. R.
Hope that helps,
Alan

That's interesting Alan, puts a different slant on the search.
I've found the present day Holmhead Road and yes it's near Cathcart Railway station [though not as close as that article would suggest, so perhaps the public meeting bore fruit!
Now to track that down on an older map....
Maybe Huntly Gardens was a large house rather than a Street?
That'll have to wait until I have a coffee
and organise my pre-Christmas Kids

Sorry Paul,
still none the wiser.
I've checked a few maps but the detailed ones [NLS Town Plans] don't extend that far south, and the ones I can check don't have individual house names.
Maybe AndrewP knows of another source of maps for that area? I know Alan Godfrey were doing more, but my collection stops at BattleField.
