Hi Jan:
I've had a look on IGI http://www.familysearch.org There are a great number of Campbell children born between 1805 and 1835 in Argyll.
I was not able to find any Duncan born to Angus Campbell and Ann McDonald, but did find Duncan son of Archibald Campbell and Ann McNeil 16 AUG 1825 Kilninian, Argyll, Scotland.
ScotlandsPeople http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk OPRs (Old Parish Registers) shows 17children of Angus and Ann Campbell christened in Argyll between 1805 and 1835. Of those, only 8 were children of Angus Campbell and Ann McDonald
To see a list of those children, you will have to purchase credits from ScotlandsPeople. You will then be able to search in the OPRs. Enter the following in the fields given:
SURNAME: Campbell
SEX: Both
PARENT NAME: Angus Campbell
PARENT NAME: Ann McDonald
DATE FROM: 1 jan 1805
DATE TO: 31 dec 1835
COUNTY/CITY: Argyll
PARISH: Kilninian
You will be able to see the list of their children for 1 credit and from there, you can view the documents for additional credits.
You may find Duncan in those listed, but if not, you might want to generate a list of Duncan born to Angus and Ann Campbell and have a look at the other Ann's surnames.

U means that the record does not say whether the child was male or female. Those doing the transcriptions were not allowed to make their own judgement, even if it seemed obvious.
All the best,

U is unknown -sometimes in the OPR they did not specify the sex of the child.

Hi Jan:
Ancestry can be a terror at times, and this may be one of them. Entering some of the info you've given about Duncan results in over 300,000 hits, then when I enter anything even slightly specific the results are ZERO.
" ... Angus Campbell & Ann McDonald ... had a son Duncan born about 1825 Argyll, Scotland ... (and later) ... I have not found my Duncan yet " Do you have a copy of the marriage/bann registration or baptismal record that you could upload? http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6496 I am wondering about the basis of Duncan being the son of Angus and Ann McDonald. Is it possible he was the son of Angus and another Ann, as it seems strange that so many of their other children were there?
" ... I know Ann was alive in 1871 I found her on a census living with her daughter in law in Tobermory" That's a big jump in time to connect Ann with this daughter-in-law. Do you have them in any census prior to 1871? Do you have a marriage registry for Duncan and 'the daughter in law' It may be easier to track the census on SP, rather than Ancestry, because it seems to be more acurate and complete. Not only that, you can add a second person to the census search in some years.
