help with dead end

Post by steiner » Wed Apr 22, 2009 7:05 pm

Any help or suggestions please.

Lucy Robertson Morrison born April 1861 Glasgow ( birth cert. seen) - illegimate daughter of Mary Morrison. - no father.

Mary Morrison seems to live with a John Crawford a slater - no marriage certificate - but references in census to her using name Crawford.

Tried searching in Scotlandspeople for death certificate under Morrison and Crawford cross matching - but no joy.

Mary was born about 1840-42 and was certaimly dead before 1929.

Canny find her death certificate. Any advice please!!

thanks for reading

What census returns do you have Mary on?

And was she alive when her daughter married? or when John Crawford died? - if you have that information.

Hi steiner,
Is the John Crawford she is living with the one born in England or the one born Glasgow? I see two John Crawfords who are slaters, living with a wife Mary in 1881. If it is the John born England, then perhaps they went back there and her death would be in England. Not a great help, since there are way too many of them.

Also, where is Mary in 1871? Is she with John already or is she Mary Morrison? I tried searching for Lucy that year and failed. In 1881 she is a servant in another household, so it didn't help me identify which Mary and John are the correct ones.

Just trying to get a handle on these folks...

All the best,
Sarah
