Well today I finally got the chance to nip over to Alloa to have a look about to see for myself the area that my ancestors stayed,I parked up next to Greenside St. across from the cemetery hoping to be able to look around the graves to see if there were any Watsons in there. The gate was locked and there was a notice on the gate saying I had to get the keys from council offices plus it was only open from Mon to Fri.I went up to the library to see if they had any information and they had the MI's for that area which I was able to view. There were no Watsons from my family there nor any other names in my tree,am gutted to say the least but J'll just keep on trying .

Oh! Gordy, what a shame.
I bought an M.I. book for part of Perthshire and found nothing for my lot and yet the Berwickshire book has given me most of my family history!
Good luck.

I've not had that much luck going to places to look up stuff either but at least I've got the feel of the place. Some places don't seem to have changed all that much in the last 100yrs or so.
Really ! It's worth buying then? Does it cover Earlston?Rach wrote:Oh! Gordy, what a shame.

Hi Mallog,
Unfortunately it doesn't cover Earlston. That must be the Western parishes!
The one I have covers Abbey St Bathans, Ayton, Bonkyl and Preston, Chirnside, Cockburnspath, Coldingham, Duns, Edrom and Eyemouth old churchyard.
Many of my lot lived in the same area for 300yrs so it is no wonder I have found quite a few!

Hi All,I managed to speak to the archivist at the library and he said there were some MI's that were not in the books because they were overlaps so I've requested to see them on Thurs so heres hoping I'll find the missing Watsons.Fingers crossed,
