Baby John Keating was born illegitimate 7/10/1901 in Broxburn Uphall and died 2/1/1902. Father James Keating and Mother Janet McWilliams.
On the death certificate John Keating Grandfather (crossed through) and then occupier written above. James Keating Age 30 and Janet married 26/9/1902 at George 1v Bridge Edinburgh, his Father is stated John Keating and Mother Margaret m.s. Graham both deceased. I have tried to get a death for both John and Margaret with no luck. Equally I can not find the death of James Keating a shale miner. I remember my Grandmother telling me that her father James would be away and when he came home he would move her from one school to another, she said he died when she was young. I can not find James or his Father John on a 1901 census. Any guidance would be appreciated. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will see something I have missed. Thank you.

Annette thank you kindly for your help. The address the baby died was 119 Haligate Broxburn Uphall. This was also the address of the McWilliams since at least 1889, prior to that Contentibus Huts Mid Calder. Bernard McWillaims (Janet's father) died there in 1909 registered by his brother Patrick of Uphall Station.
John Keating is stated on baby John's death certificate as Occupier above what I think says Grandfather which has been crossed out and Present written underneath? No occupation for him.
On James and Janet's Marriage he gives his occupation as Labourer and also that of his Father. 119 Haligate must have been bursting at the seams!! There was Bernard McWilliams his wife Mary, daughter Janet, son Bernard, Grandaughter Mary (illegitimate daughter of Janet), then James Keating husband of Janet in 1902, John Keating (James Father) baby James Keating b 8/12/1902 and then my Grandmother Margaret b 1906.
Wilmam thank you. The Mother is at 119 Haligate Broxburn. The problem then is where in Ireland did they come from, I have no idea.
Andrew thank you for your reply too. Elusive is right!! He must have been around in 1911 at least, for I remember my Gran telling me that her Dad would come home and remove her from one school and put her in to another one. I do know her Grandfather Bernard McWilliams married in Fauldhouse 1876 according to the house of the Catholic Church. Maybe James Keating was not and that was why he changed her school?
