Hello everyone,
I finally got Agnes Cuzco Johnstone's death cert and answered a lot of questions on not only her but the families where abouts. But I am stuck on her final resting place. Can someone have a look at the 5th entry
#1630 in the column for Burials and see if they can help me locate which cemetery she would be in. From what I can read its says 9th of Oct 1880 and New Cemetery. I have done some googling and think that what was known as the New Cemetery is now the Melbourne General Cemetery. Please correct me if I am mistaken. Also , would anyone know who I could contact to confirm this?
Cheers,
Heather

Hi Heather:
Rather funny 'N', but comparing it to 'N' in Ninth October 1880, I'd say it was New Cemetery, Melbourne. The undertaker was A.A. Sleight, in case there may be records available from the business.
http://www.whitehat.com.au/Cemetery/General/History.asp confirms that New Cemetery is Melbourne General Cemetery.
This website lists an index to the cemetery records http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/1038 ... "Melbourne General Cemetery"&offset=3&max=13
Melbourne General Cemetery [electronic resource]: index and transcriptions of monumental inscriptions to 1989

Hello Heather,
If you don’t have any luck with the Library maybe you could check with the Cemetery. According to one of their newsletters they intend to later progressively add Melbourne General to their online search so they sound helpful. http://necropolis.net.au/necropolis/
If you get to find out the location of the grave there’s a very nice map here. http://necropolis.net.au/global/downloa ... %20Map.pdf
There’s a satellite view here. http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&i ... 12188&z=16
In my travels I stumbled across an 1872 Glasgow Herald marriage notice for the father. If you don’t have it let me know if you’re interested.
The link to the certificate image wouldn’t work for me. Try this one. http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... ?pos=-1854
All the best,
Alan
