something isnt right here

Post by Justjan » Fri May 29, 2009 1:11 pm

having more problems , looking for certs for the children of Frances and Robert Cameron , i got a marriage for 1828 in Barony ,
2 of the children were born in Sivergrove street ,the third Bridgegate ,
i cant find a single birth for any of them using the parents names ,
if i take away the parents names i am getting a few ,but i cant say this is ones i want when i cant see parents ,
this is so odd ,

Not odd....the parents may not have had the children baptised or they may not have been members of a church whose records are transcribed - can't remember the proper name for those kinds of churches - but I know there is one!

I looked for them at the IGI and also on the BIVRI disks, and no luck. You may have to rely on census entries to find their children.

thanks Nina
just thought i would have got them in SP ,i did get the marriage for the parents ,think maybe its all i am going to get , the census arent helping really as each time to look the ages are different and dont add up ,
maybe just going to have to assume the marriage being in 1828 they were maybe over 16 and make do with that ,

Where did you find them in the 1841 census?
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

McGill was what shes found out ,sadly at this end i cant even find Frances McGills BC , in LDS i got a marriage for a Danile McGill and Elizabeth McCue , not even sure if thats Frances Parents , its getting harder now :(

On Fanny McGill's poorhouse application does it give her religion and what did she say was her father's occupation?

If they married 1828 pre SR then children's birth may not have been registered just the christening, the child may have just had daddy name on reg, or child may have been registered before christening without a forename eg. Baby Smith or girl child of Gordon Smith. You can also check the Kirk Sessions as they sometimes mention christenings. ( rare but happened)
