hi
when you download a Gedcom file from say LDS , and upload into Ancestry , do it just give the DOB and Death date and place ,
just i have found 2 william Jamiesons both born weeks apart and cant get birth details of the parents , this is hard going trying to work out who is who , as think the Fathers are Cousins from the same place

There is no quick answer to that one. As far as I am aware, a GEDCOM will contain the information that the person who made it set it up to contain - you can go for the bare minuimum of names and dates, include places too or include all notes etc.

I'm not sure quite what you mean by uploading a GEDCOM to Ancestry after downloading it from LDS....? Do you mean uploading information to a personal family tree you have stored on Ancestry?

thanks for the reply Lesley ,
for some strange reaon , when i downloaded one from LDS , it asked me did i want to save or open , hadnt done that before , and i opened so seen that one ok , just as i say , going around and round here , go as far as saying , Stewarts / Camerons were easier than this lol ,
