I have stumbled upon a headstone, and it has me wondering who they are.

Can you give us some more information on where this is at?

The Gordon-Lennox family own lands in Moray and Surrey, but that might not be anything to do with you're looking for.

Hi,

It may not mean anything but just coincidence that at Brixton Cemetery, where one relative is interred with the surname Lennox that there is also the headstone of his daughter with the name (blank) Gordon.

What appears odd is that her surname of Lennox is not on her headstone.

Hi Dennis
I'm not sure I'm following this, but if I have got the correct end of the stick and if you are meaning Brixton in London, then there is every liklihood that any daughter, if married, would ONLY be listed with her married surname. The practice of always referring to women by thier maiden name is a very Scots thing.

I remember a while back giving a contact, who had offered to check lists of MIs, some details of who I was looking for - these were in London too... I provided her with the married names and the maiden names thinking this would be a good cross-check. However, I received a puzzled message back asking why I had included the maiden names!!

Best wishes
Lesley

Probably not in the next few weeks. Higher priority is being but into getting the missing parts of the forum back in place, and other forum updates following the site re-build. The Gallery should follow after that.

All the best,
