Viewing RCEs on Scotlandspeople

Post by Lindsay » Sat Sep 05, 2009 7:56 am

Hi

Recently when I've tried to view RCEs, when I click on the red "View RCE" button, I get taken back to the search results screen. If I then re-select the link for the image, and click on the red button a second time, the RCE opens with no problems. Previously, the RCEs always opened first time.

I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar, or if I need to investigate my settings? Everything still works OK but it's becoming a little annoying as much of my research involves looking at RCEs. I use the direct download method and Firefox browser so I'm wondering if this could be related to a browser update.

Regards

Lindsay

I think they may have a problem. Yesterday, I kept being thrown back to search results when trying to view anything, especially "view next page or previous page free". It usually worked ok on the second try - but frustrating.

I contacted SP about this issue, with problems going to the next page on two wills I purchased, but they say they can't duplicate the problem in at SP. They concluded it therefore must be my computer having the hassles. Perhaps if more people email them they will know that it is a problem with the viewing software and then try to fix it.

By the way, they suggested I change my viewer settings, so I did, to Direct Download, but when I did that I also had problems; one page only downloaded half of itself and I am yet to receive the last page of the will I wanted to look at. There is definitely something wrong!

That's at least four of us having the same problem...surely it can't be all of our systems.

I'll contact SP too.

I'll contact them too. I originally thought it might be my computer as I've been experiencing problems with RCEs for some time, but it's definitely worse today. I got stuck in a loop trying to view one this afternoon - I must have tried 5 times and still haven't managed to access it.

Thanks for confirming it's not just me.

Yesterday I got hold of a cert for a lang deid yin, but when renamed and downloaded it, it was nowhere to be found on my compter. I even saw the doc on recent doc's but it could not be found anywhere.
When I went to viewed images it would not let me look at it to download again, I eventually had to go into previous searches to get it. They definately must have had some sort of problem yesterday.

Hi Stewie

I think the more folk that let them know by sending a contact form, the better. They can then can a better idea of how many people are affected by it, and a better idea of how the problem is manifesting itself, whcih should lead to a quicker solution!

Best wishes
Lesley

(This discussion has also started up in another thread in SP Questions & Answers.)

Now I can't even get to my "Viewed Images." It just times out and says something about site not available.

I have sent a contact form telling them that the problem is getting worse. Standard reply of course, saying that they will respond during business hours. I'm glad our Labor Day holiday on Monday doesn't happen in the UK.

I'll just hang in there with the rest of you. Regards,

I just viewed a DC with no problem but when I tried to view a Will it took a while then came up with the page "Site Unavailable". Maybe someone is getting paid double time and fixing the problem.
