Hi,

Just reading the news. I know there's a few visitors from Oz here, hope this isn't affecting you.

Hailstorms, duststorms and earthquakes? Just a normal 24 hours in Oz??? This can't be good.

Just to let you know that the wind (which is now gale force) has blown most of the dust away from Sydney (except for what is left on our cars, tables, windows, houses and even my Siberia who is now a very nice shade of brownish/red).

Wasn't very good for the asthmatics and people who suffer allergies but the rest of us seem to have got through it. As the reports says it was the most amazing sky this morning waking up to this red glow coming through your window. Very eerie (one friend thought their next door neighbour's house was on fire - so red was the sky).

All we need now is some decent rain to wash everything.

Glad to hear it's improved a bit. Hope you get that rain soon, but how likely is that at this time of year!

Who knows - the weather is very unpredictable. They are predicting snow falls in our alpine region over the next couple of days so that could mean wet weather for Sydney. About two hours drive sout of Sydney is Goulburn and they had hailstones the size of golf balls last night.

We have also had some really hot days this Winter.

Reckon the worst job in Australia at the moment is a Weather Forecaster!!

Thanks for caring about us in Oz.

We are only 90k South of Sydney, yesterday was dreadful so made sure we stayed indoors, everything is coated in red dust, forecast keeps promising rain, so far 2 nights of thunder and lightning but no rain, it just went over.

Not looking forward to the Summer heat this year, it is sure to be extreme, will be big fires next.........

My first thought when I woke up on Wednesday morning and saw the red windows was “YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! OH, DAMN YOU! GODDAMN YOU ALL TO HELL. (Thanks Charlton)

Later in the day, while shopping, I learned how difficult it is to control a full supermarket shopping trolley in a gale.

But the best is yet to come. I collect my water supply off the roof and I’m not sure what colour will be coming out of the taps after it rains.

Ha! That made me laugh Alan - in a kind of nervous, "not today, silly" way

I learned a new skill with a supermarket trolley this year too - how to control it in a torrential downpour whilst your husband remembers where he put the car when you ran inside to keep dry! Oh what joy!

Hope your water's ok - couldn't be any less drinkable than what come out of our taps on a normal day
