Hi team

Thanks for all your hard work in getting the site up and running again, I have just checked again re all the past post's, and great to see they have all been restored, (mine at least), this is great as I am now able to go back if I need to-to check on things.

Great work :D :D :D :D :D

You're Welcome Trish and thank you for starting this thread. Andrew really does deserve a round of applause.

Annette, I agree Andrew should receive an award [star] and take a bow for all the countless and sometimes thankless hours he's poured into restoring [talkingscot]

Andrew take a bow for a job well done! (We need a "Take A Bow Avatar")

P.S.

Andrew, I'm really sorry about the approx. 5,000 e-mails that I sent to you asking for updates, during the time

[talkingscot] was off- line.

This really is the best, most helpful site I've come across re genealogy. Even if I say nothing, I'm here most days, and missed it when it was gone.

Andrew, be sure all of your efforts are worthwhile and very much appreciated, in many parts of the world no doubt. Thanks.

When TalkingScot went offline in July and the backup was not just uploading and up and running again, I came close to throwing in the towel and saying it can't be done. Thankfully I spoke to an IT consultant friend and took some good advice. We downloaded some software to dismantle the compressed backup file and I managed to upload it in many pieces. At the first attempt it was only a partial success and only the previous nine months or so of posts appeared. For a while I thought the older posts were gone for good. A few weeks later I went back to the backup file and found the problem and uploaded the older posts. They should all be there now.

If the backup could not have been resurrected, then there would have been two choices - to start again, or to walk away from it. Thankfully that choice never had to be made.

All the best,

AndrewP
