Glasgow obits 1964

Post by KarieK » Tue Oct 13, 2009 6:43 pm

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to access an obituary in 1964. My grandfather Thomas Kerr died in Glasgow, I am thinking that it was in the first six months. I found it on SP as at age 85 which is correct. I know there was an obituary published as my aunt read of her father's death in the paper.
Any help would be appreciated
Kind Regards, Karen

Hi Karen,

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon, but in the meantime, you could try googling for the Glasgow Herald or the Times. I know the Mitchell Library in Glasgow has the Glasgow Herald, at least some of those issues from the early-mid 1880's...not sure if they have them till present.

Worth a try.

Regards,
Anne H

Thanks for the reply Anne. I did try googling and didn't come up with anything of use. I don't recall (I was in my teens then) if my aunt ever sent my Dad a copy of the Obit, all I remember was that grandfather had been dead two weeks before she found out...not very nice.
