Help with cause of death

Hi everyone. I was looking at the death certificate of a relative who died in 1930 in the Midlothian Asylum at Lasswade and am having difficulty in deciphering the cause of death. My reading is "general" something "of insane". It looks like the word begins with a "P" but it is definitely not "paralysis" which appears to be a common death cause term. It looks more like "Parcsis".

Any ideas?
