Yanteslose, Fifeshire?
Yanteslose, Fifeshire is from Ancestry of course, but does anyone want to give a guess as to what it really is? This was a birthplace on the 1861 Census. The girl's sister was born in Aberdeen. Just looked at a modern map of Fifeshire, but didn't see anything. I was thinking Yantes Close misspelled maybe?

Hi Carol,
I had a look at the image on SP. It could be Auchtertool
, but it is far from clear. It could also be Anstruther. Have a look there and see what you think.
The online IGI gives a possible birth in Aucterderran. However, the parents married in Aucterderran and produced three children there (IGI).
All the best,
AndrewP

Thanks, Andrew!
I really, really am out of credits for SP this time! But I'll look when I next get some. I'll check the IGI right now. That's where I was just working1
