What on Earth!!

Post by momat » Thu Aug 26, 2010 3:43 am

Some new puzzlers from our friends at Ancestry.
Found these while searching. Fortunately not my lot.
These are Occupations listed on a Scottish Census return for two in the household.
Knod Sconer
Starah Worker

Maybe we should have a forum for the weirdest transcripts

Hi Momat
The mind boggles as to what the true occuaptions are!! Great examples of why you should always view the original where possible - otherwise you might be away off for hours on searches for seemingly obscure occupations whcih turn out to be a load of nonsense too!!

Best wishes
Lesley

Hello Maureen & Lesley,

I reckon the second one would be Starch Worker http://books.google.com.au/books?id=YJB ... CCwQ6AEwAA

Maybe the second word in the first one could be Seamer http://books.google.com.au/books?ei=Kex ... rch_anchor

No idea really,
Alan

Hi Maureen,

I would agree that knodding scones is something that happens regularly in our household, and

Is the person who is helping me work right now, but somehow an extra 't' got inserted in the name.
