ancestors in Kiltearn 1798

Post by David L Munro » Mon Aug 30, 2010 4:33 am

In scotlandspeople .gov I have found records of two of my ancestors. James Munro and Margaret McLennan baptism of son charles.
right below on the records.
Alexander Munro and Elizabeth McKenzie baptism of son Alexander .

The place name for James Munro is Clyne ? can someone help as to where Clyne is as it is not in the imediate area that I can find.

I am fron the Alexander Munro family line.
Is Drummond the residence of the preacher as the records show Kiltearn as centre.

It appears that the two brother's have traveled to this place for the baptism, is it possable to assume the parents where there??

Hi David,

Clyne was a parish in eastern Sutherland. Its main town was Brora. On http://www.nls.uk/maps/os/oneinch_2nd_list.html Clyne parish can be found split across maps 103, 108 and 109; mostly in the north part of 103.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks Andrew.

That helps me a lot. I hope to find records there of this part of the family.
