I was in Leven library yesterday afternoon and met an older lady from Airdrie who had driven through with her husband and son. She was doing some family history research. Her Grandparents had stayed in Manor House in Windygates before the First World War (rented accomodation).
Her grandfather, a Mr Mathieson was a pit manager and died in 1918. She thinks that the house was demolished in the 1960's.
I advised her to check the 1901 census under Kennoway but Windygates was obviously not part of that parish. Perhaps it should have been Wemyss that she checked.
To cut a long story short I said that I would find out if anyone had heard of a Manor House in Windygates and Email her.
Is there any other route open to her with the limited information she has? I have googled Manor House and looked at some old maps of Windygates online but nothing so far...

Hi Angusfifer
I wondered whether it might have been Bridgend House, a gothic mansion which stood in the area now occupied by Bridgend Gardens, Windygates?
