Re: Understanding 1806 marriage paper for Buchanan/Denniston
Hi Heidi,
I am not sure what to make of the Buchanan / Denniston marriage.
Jan 26th 1806 Buchanan [David] and Janet Denniston owned theiar 8... their fine r irr M
I read it as Jan 26th 1806 Buchanan [David] and Janet Denniston owned their irrs & pd their fine.
My feeling is that they may have been irregularly married and paid a fine to the Parish Church to have their names inscribed in the register.
The others I think I can explain:
Jan 4th. Robertson [James] in Campsie and Janet Stevenson in Denny, 3days Mar 21st
January 4th (entered in register) James Robertson residing in Campsie, and Janet Stevenson residing in Denny had their banns proclaimed on 3 days. They were married on 21st (of the same month).
Jan 25 McIntosh [Hector]Glenwine Campsie and Jane Peter Barony Parish Glas. 2 days. Mar?Feb3
January 25th (entered in register) Hector McIntosh residing at Glenwine, Campsie, and Jane Peter residing in Barony Parish, Glasgow had their banns proclaimed on 2 days, and were married on 3rd February.
All the best,
AndrewP

Re: Understanding 1806 marriage paper for Buchanan/Denniston
Hi Andrew
Thanks for the information - banns make sens I have seen them on the English records on LDS film but separat to the marridge.
A fine for a quick marridge
- the first child I could find for them [on Fam. Sea.] was born 12 Jul 1806 [no genda or first name] -then a break to 1812 and 7 chidren over the years to the birth of my GGGranmother in 1828. Will get on SP and have a closer look at the children. What I like abouth the old Fam. Sea. is that you can put the parents name in and get get list of posible children and that narrows down the search on SP. I am stil learning my way there
Thanks Heidi
