Re: Herries
Hi Mate - fellow KIWI
WELCOME to TalkingScot.
You will find this site a very welcoming site with many experts keen to help you.
However most web sites and FORUMS these days recommend that for your own safety you do not publish email addresses. If you feel it is already in the public domain because of use over a long time etc, it is still preferable to remove the "@" and replace with "At" etc and possibly spell our the dot's. This way you should not receive as much unwanted SPAM.
This forum has a PM (Private Message) service where messages and or email addresses can be exchanged if deemed necessary, for file swapping. You will see a [PM] icon under the posters details with each post.
Personally I would recommend that you start again with a less explicit user name.
I'm not setting a good example I know, but my email and name got a hammering 10 years ago, when I wanted to do some research in Russia, so now it is very much public domain. Fortunately there are now filters that trap the worst of it.
Regards.

Re: Herries
Greetings again Mate.
Off to bed now, but have had a quick site search. Did not find anything on this site, but found two references to the name c1900 on a RootsChat search.
http://www.google.co.nz/search?q=%22Rob ... mages&tbs=
It is possible for non members to search such sites with a Google Advanced search. In this case placing your search subject in one of the top boxes and www .rootschat.com in the very bottom box. (remove the additional space).

Thank you for your warning and have now changed the user name. Unfortunately none of the sites you found were of the family I am looking for but thank you for your help.

Hello Maggie8 and ![TS welcome [TS_welcome]](./images/smilies/TS_welcome.png)
Is your Robert the one in Howwell Cottage, Kirkcudbright in 1851 with his parents Richard and Janet and several siblings? I assume you have downloaded Robert and Isabella's marriage from ScotlandsPeople and know who his parents were. How far have you been able to go back with this family? Looks like both Richard and Janet lived long enough to get into the Statutory Registers, so their death certificates should give you the names of their parents also.
I'm not related, just wondering how much information you already have and what we might be able to help you find.
All the best,
Sarah
