7 Clyde St

Hi and Merry Christmas to all at TS,

Still following my McFarlane family and have found a grand daughter Elizabeth Thompson born in 1861. On the birth cert it has when and where born 16th (or 15th) October 1861 address 7 Clyde Street, Glasgow. The Record page says district of Milton in the Burgh of Glasgow.
Does anyone know if this is another Clyde St not the one on the banks of the Clyde in Glasgow city?

Thanks for the GLASGOW STREET name changes link. I've only just recently sent a private email to a Pollokshaws member, asking if they could confirm / place a no longer existing street name from the 1841 census. My efforts to find a schedule of changed names was unsuccessful. Possibly because I was looking at/in the local history section of the public library system.

Perhaps this address could be placed in the TS resources section with it's own title, or is it already there, perhaps I should double check. Egg on my face if it is, after all the other places I had tried.

PS. OOP's it appears that this link has been discussed several times before. Perhaps I should be taking the Monday Morning advice of our local mechanic, to the weekend mechanics who came a calling. "If in doubt - first read the instruction manual".

PPS. Clarity still evades me, because according to "GlasgowGuide" King Street of Pollok/Auldfield, became Strawbridge Street S3, while I now have the locals saying it became SHAWBRIDGE Street. At least I can find Shawbridge Street on todays maps.

The nearest would be the Clyde Street which became Tayport Street.

Clyde Street is now under the M8 motorway. if you go to http://geo.nls.uk/maps/towns/glasgow185 ... ayers.html and zoom into the Garscube Road/ Craighall Road area (helps if you turn off the historic overlay) and look for Dunblane Street to the south of the M8, Clyde street was to the north at the 'M8'

Thanks Falkyrn - it was Clyde St before Tayport St - right in the depth of all the Wharves, factories, Coal yards, canals etc. Must have been a grim place to live.
Carlineric, Thanks for the link - after a bit of time i did eventually find Clyde Street - that is a very good site once you get the hang of it. I also found this a good site http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk it also had a few pics of Tayport Street before demolition.
I think my confusion was when i found Margaret McFarlane (the grandmother of Elizabeth Thomson) on the 1861 census also at 7 Clyde St but the parish was Barony. It pays to look more carefully at the registration district as kindly documented here
