Just a quick one. I have come into possession of a fabulous old photograph of the Lochfyneside Village of Ardrishaig. I have numerous maternal family connections to the area. The photograph is taken from the hills behind Ardrishaig and features prominently the large house that my mother's family would have known as Fernbank. It is where she was born in 1932. The photograph was taken before the existence of Ardrishaig's public park. Apparently there was a grand civic opening ceremony for the park and I have seen photographs of the event, I just cannot remember where. If I can find out the relevant date I will be able to put an approximate date to my photograph. Hope somebody can help.

Re: Official date for the opening of Ardrishaig public park.
Hello Doddie,
The Scotsman, Edinburgh, 08 November, 1937.
ARDRISHAIG’S NEW PUBLIC PARK
To mark the official opening of the Ardrishaig Public Park a friendly football match was played on Saturday between the Tarbert Football Club and the Ardrishaig club. Tarbert won by 6 goals to nil. Prior to the match Councillor William Manson, chairman of the District Council, handed over and declared the field open, calling on Mrs. Coll Jackson to unfurl the flag, a St. Andrew cross, which was presented by her husband, a supporter of the club. The field was purchased by the Ardrishaig Village Improvement Association. Levelling has been carried out entirely by voluntary labour.
Hope that helps,
Alan

Re: Official date for the opening of Ardrishaig public park.
Hi Alan, thank you for taking the time to get back to me. I am sure that I had looked through The Scotsman archive. Must have missed the article. I am now going to try and find out the earliest date for the photo. I will try and find out the age of my 'mum's' old house. Coincidentally, the Coll Jackson referred to in the newspaper article would have been a relative of mine. His father, also Coll Jackson born c. 1848, was my g.g.g. uncle.
