New LDS site
Hi
It must have something to do with the transit of Venus as I'm starting back once more researching my family history.
It has been several years since I last done any work on it and I have nothing on the computer,(external backups are great till you lose them ).I've plenty of paper records and the usual mess on Scot's People, Enough to keep me busy for some time
or till the brick walls drive me insane again. What I would like to ask is ( can't find any info on search ) the LDS site has completely changed and I can't quite work out "How To" bring up the family of a couple. I remember just typing in their names and up came the kids, now I'm getting all sorts of info and nothing of use. Sorry for rabbiting on and if this subject has been discussed could someone point me in the right direction.
many thanks for reading sf

Re: New LDS site
On the home page (www.familysearch.org) got to "Browse by Location" and click on "United Kingdom and Ireland".
Click on Scotland
Click on "Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950"
Under "Search by Relationships" click "Parents" and enter the parents names, if necessary you can refine your search by clicking on "Birth" in the "Search by Life Events" and entering a date range and/or place.
At first I did not like the new site but now I have used it for a bit I find it better than the old site.

Hi Eric
Many thanks for your instant reply and how to use the new site. I'm glad to hear you like it after using it as my first reaction when I saw it was unprintable.
regards sf

Re: New LDS site
When I visited http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp a screen came up with the option of going to the old site.
and there landed on http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp and could proceed as of old.

I'd managed to lose that link - so many thanks. Like Eric I am getting used to the new site - but sometimes it seems quicker to check via the originalWilmaM wrote:When I visited http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp a screen came up with the option of going to the old site.

Re: New LDS site
Maybe somebody could do a separate tutorial on the difference between the 2 family search versions
and how to do all the searches on the new one?

Re: New LDS site
It doesn't appear to be quite as simple as regards the classic.familysearch.org site
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp leads me to the same site, as opposed to a direct link to the previous 'old' FamilySearch site.
I guess that I'll eventually get used to the new FS site.
