I have recently made contact with cousin who is working on the same lines as I am, and she has found (on IGI) Irish Landed Estate Court Files 1850 - 1885
an item on Thomas Gillon It goes on to say;- Probate - Document: 034 - Volume: 085 - Volume Date: May/June 1867 County: Sligo Placename: Grange.
We have looked at this, and found the corresponding one for his widow Margaret and are deperately hoping that it is indeed 'Our' Thomas and Margaret, as the year of death we have for Thomas is correct and Sligo is the correct county. We haven't come across Grange before, and on Margaret's the placename is Upper Rosses, and the volume and dates are slightly different.
Would any of you kind, helpful people on Talking Scot be able to advise us on how to take this a little further, and find out if we are on the right lines with this?
Talk about Brick Walls?
Best regards
Wee Ann

Hi Wee Ann
On the family search web site there is a catalogue of all their microfilm and printed holdings. My internet has been playing up something rotten recenlty, so my ability to check anything quickly is severely limited... in the catalogue I expect you will be able to ascertain if this is on microfilm, and if it is, you should be able, for a small fee, to have the film sent to your local LDS centre for viewing.
Best wishes

Re: Thomas Gillon
There are a couple of options for viewing these. As Lesley has pointed out you could go to your local LDS Family History Centre where they are available to view as digital images on FamilySearch, you do not need to order the microfilm. The other option is to use FindMyPast Ireland or a world subscription for their other sites, I think there are offers of free credits at the moment.

Thank you both so much! I was just stumped and didn't know where to go from there.
Thanks again.

Re: Thomas Gillon
I came on site this morning, and veiwed "1 new Message" on the Control Panel. I didn't see who it was from, and then I quickly lost it.
The only bit I remember is, "If you send me your e-mail address, I will forward it to you".
I feel such a fool! I have tried everything I can think of, but I cannot find it again.
HELP!!!

Click on the link at the top-left of the forum "0 new messages", and you should find the message there in your inbox. Hopefully the message with the newest date and time should be the one that you are looking for.
