Would anyone know what "Rents of Heritage" refers to in a 18th C will?

Hi David

This may be of some help:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=a6xB ... 22&f=false

Also see http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/conte ... ?r=554&407
"Heritable property consisted of land, buildings, minerals and mining rights, and passed to the eldest son according to the law of primogeniture."

Best wishes
Lesley
