you used the co-op in Springburn road? we were not far away in Parliamentary road. was your branch Cowlairs? My mothers divi number was 22651. when we moved to Pollokshaws she was allowed to keep her number and the reason I remembered it was because I was the youngest and at school,my two sisters and brother at work I did the shopping after school during a period when my mother was ill. I loved the co-op shop in Harriet street,the old fashioned lay-out Mr MacKay the manager was strict but fair with the rationing. Funny how hard times is also a period of our fondest memories.

Rachel -- I remember going to the Co-op on Springburn Rd, opposite the big stairs, beside the railway bridge. The stairs were at the far end of Ayr St, (where I got my very first library ticket from the Springburn Library) which was at the bottom of the stairs. We lived on the corner of Flemington St and Ayr St.

As your mom's number was 22651 and my mom's was 22625, diz that mean you an' me cin call oorsel's "rellies"??? We could be cousins 26 divi's removed. Or maybe divi's-in-law!!! Or if you're older than me, you could be my Auntie Divi.......

now let me see,should i give my age away. lets just say i could be your aunt. In my young days I knew Springburn fairly well. my aunt of 'the mer ye eat' lived on the springburn road. another aunt lived not on the Balgray hill but we used to climb up it to get to her. We were frequent visitors. it is amazing how close our divi numbers were so i will see you as my divi nephew. I don't suppose you knew the Gibbs' or the Bramhams' I remember too a third aunt her married name was Gordon but cannot remember where she lived. it's been nice talking to you.

I can't remember anyone called Gibb or Bramham in our area. I can remember Burnett's, Pollock's and Glass' though -- and Minnie who owned the wee dairy....Say hello to my Divi uncle and all my wee divi cousins!
