Irish side, Families arrived ic. 1848 parents wer born c. 1808, I know the names of their parents so that puts oldest about 1785 in one line. One other line gives agnes Crawford b. Ireland ( suspect Cty Down). she died in 1865 and was listed 100 years old. So knwoing the names of her parents that takes me back c. 1740.
Maternal side has the Barclay line in Marykirk and Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire back to the defunct house of Mathers c. 1610. If link established then further back in Scottish nobility.
How far back?.....

An estimated 1767 through my Scotttish Corr/Logan/O'Brien/Docherty/Watson side. The first Watson I have mention of is a Samuel Watson born about 1787. He married a Jane Lowrie, born 1792 (born Donegal, Ireland). Her parents were Andrew Lowrie and Janet Maxwell. Andrew was born about 1767...or a litle earlier or later. I don't suppose I will get back any further on this line.
I have another line of Eastons on my father's side that are supposed to go back further (1745), but I do not have proof positive yet, so am reluctant to include them until I do. Hopefully a look at the OPR's for Erskine will set that straight (ordered from LDS library).

1750 with the birth of Isobel Dollas/dallas & I suppose another twenty or so for her parents John Dollas & Majorie Dove/Dow.She married William McKimmie & became my eight times GGreatgrandmother.
The oldest document that we have in our family possesion is an 1824 Marriage Proclimation between David Taylor & Christina Robertson who were married in the parish of St Cuthberts. The first stat reg is the Death Certificate of my GGGreatgrandmother in 1890.
The oldest family heirloom is a bomb damaged(legacy of the Clydebank Blitz)pewter jug from the Roslin Rifles Volunteers 1865c? which my GGGrandfather John Scott won for markmanship.
Photos with the earliest marked 1865 Sydney Australia(not sure if that was when it was taken or when the studio was etablished!)Lots of family photos from the late 1800s & the early 1900's.
