Hi Mallog

Glasgow makes you well up yet you are coming from a part of the country that's as picturesque in its own way as the East Neuk of Fife.
We were down in Sorn last week and (without the cars and trucks) it looked as quiet and peaceful as the stones we found in the graveyard for my wife's ancestors.

Driving down the brae into Catrine (Ayrshire). It's thirty years since I lived there but it is still where I belong.

It wasn't Glasgow as such, Russell. It's just meeting people or seeing them away at airports, stations you name it. Every time I come into Glasgow Central it reminds me of comiing back to Scotland.
Don't worry I know how lovely Ayrshire is. I am blessed to be able to watch stunning sunsets over Arran.
There's something about Sorn - it seems so peaceful doesn't it?

You know I feel as though every time someone mentions somewhere I've lived there. Stayed in North Queensferry (Fife) another lovely village.

You can take the Scot out of scotland but never take Scotland out of the Scot. :D :D :D

For an undemonstrative nation we love our land don't we?

Russell:

I told my fellow Canadians when travelling in Scotland be prepared. For such a small country you feel a change in the land with every turn in the road.

I know what you mean Mallog.

Before we moved to the U.S. six years ago, we lived in Essex. 13 years to be exact. Every time I came home I had the exact same feeling, after we passed Motherwell and I knew we were the next stop. Just before you come over the bridge and Glasgow Central is straight ahead. Many a time I have been in tears as Central Station came into view. Now it's when the Airport looms ahead.

It's almost 20 years since I left Scotland, but there's not a day goes by but I miss it. My husband just doesn't get it, and He's from Linwood to.

Never mind, 90 days and counting.

The thrill as my plane heads over Clydebank & when you could see "John Brown" on the roof but sadly gone now!
Will be on a late flight so nothing to look out for this trip.

Hi, New here thought this a good place to start.

The one place I hold dearest in my heart. The land I want to return to time and time again is the Isle of Arran. I've many fond memories of that Island but never will I forget the peace and tranquility and the complete feeling that i was Home when I sat atop a mountain with a small waterfall babbling beside me. There's no other place I've ever been that's felt so right.

A close second would be my families home in Ayrshire, or collecting rocks at the river in Glencoe.

Thanks for the welcome Heather. I'm hoping to make a trip home next year and show my husband both England and Scotland. I might just have to hit you up for the name of your cousins hotel ;)
