....snipped....
I'm awa aff fer a wee footer before taking the bairns tae school now.
Oh that brought memories. My Dad was always "creating" something, whether out of a wee bit of paper, string and nails or, later, building transistor radios.

When asked where he was my Mum would mutter "Ben the room, footerin as usual".

I love these posts, but the only way I can understand them is, read slowly, and in my mind use my mothers voice.

It makes me wonder how other non Scottish thinking members get on working out what has been posted.

Aw Davie,
If there was a SPELL CHECK on TS there would never be
any messages, as we would all be too busy telling it to IGNORE it unless it was a SCOTS spell check.

How about when you went Dancing.

"Are ye dancin Hen ? "
"Are you askin?'
"Am askin"
"Am Dancin"

That will get some folk thinking.

The best description of feeling a bit off-colour,you know the wean is nae well but can't quite put your finger on it"He's a bit hangy Doctor".
Oose in your pocket or under the bed-collection of dust in a confined space.
My fav."If you kill yourself doing that I will murder you"-oh the illogical mind of the grown-up.
My Granny used to say "I was up at the screek(SP?) of day"-very unusual for her as she usually laid abed until at least 9.
I have somewhere a piece of paper with all her words with translations that I had her write-if only I could find the"safe place" I put it.She called it the Doric.

Read slowly and in my mind use my ggg grandfather's voice? (If only we had recordings that far back!) As a linguist, I'm enjoying this thread, but do I understand it all? No way.

Making me feel slightly apprehensive about my upcoming trip to Scotland... 8-[
