Did you ever go to the Paisley Town Hall discos on the first Saturday in the month during the late 70's?

I loved them as people from all over the district and beyond came.
Nope only to the Church Dances in Foxbar I think it was-the bus terminus was outside handy if you had some dosh.
I can remember a certain "friend" who had started going out with my ex-a no-no amongst lassies, the social faux pas per excellence!!!Anyway we were sitting on the bus going back to Renfrew Ferry & she was getting a bit of a shereking for her "bad taste".I felt very vindicated. You just did not go near anybody that a friend fancied/had been out with.
We both ended up with different hubbies though & we both ditched them too!!!

I went to the Dennistoun Palais a couple of times on a Saturday afternoon but my dad was the resident singer at The Barrowland so I ended up there.

I remember Boots Corner well Davie.

Annette,
Out of them all my absolute favourite was the Electric Garden. Like Rita I loved The Poets and Dream Police who used to play there. Wonder if we rubbed shoulders because all the dance halls at that time were always mobbed. :D

Actually ah think ah did take a lumber fae Joanna's once. He walked me tae George Square fur the midnight bus an' we hid a wee winch. He asked tae see me again bit ah gave 'im a dizzy - he probably didnae turn up either.

Ah memories.

Best wishes,
Annette M

Oh Rita, I remember the Bobby Jones (the Palais) and the cellar. Getting the late bus at 1 o'clock back to Catrine and then in to the bakehouse for a pie to eat walking home. Do you remember the Beatstalkers?

Yes Margaret I do remember them
There was some good Ayrshire ones on the go then as well but do any of yous remember the last dance song ; Please Stay by the Crying shame .
The Bobby's late bus for us only went as far as Kilmarnock or Irvine so we had a bit of a walk after that as well but we always had a sing-song along the way , If I remember right I think the Bobbys' was ten bob to get into then.

Hi Rita,

IF I GOT ON MY KNEES AND I PLEADED WITH YOU
NOT TO GO BUT TO STAY IN MY ARMS
WOULD YOU WALK OUT THE DOOR
LIKE YOU DID ONCE BEFO O O ORE

THIS TIME (this time)
BE DIFFERENT (be different)
PLEASE STAY, DON’T GO

IF I CALL OUT YOUR NAME LIKE A PRAYER
WOULD YOU LEAVE ME ALONE IN MY FEAR
KNOWING I NEED YOU SO
WOULD YOU STILL TURN AND GO

THIS TIME (this time)
BE DIFFERENT (be different)
PLEASE STAY DON’T GO PLEASE STAY

I LOVED YOU BEFORE I EVEN KNEW YOUR NAME
AND I WANTED TO GIVE YOU MY HEART
BUT NOW YOU CAME BACK AFTER LEAVING ME ONE TIME
OH I KNEW OH HOW I KNEW
THAT THE HEARTACHES WOULD START

IF I CALL OUT YOUR NAME LIKE A SONG
WHICH WAS WRITTEN FOR YOU, YOU ALONE
WOULD YOU STILL HURT MY PRIDE
BABY, YES, TILL I CRIED

THIS TIME (this time) BE DIFFERENT (be different)
PLEASE STAY DON’T GO PLEASE STAY
YOU KNOW I ALWAYS LOVE YOU DARLIN’
PLEASE STAY (please stay) DON’T GO (don’t go)
PLEASE STAY

Took me back big time!!
Good job you weren't in my house while I was, trying to remember and type the words by, singing my wee heart out karaoke style.
