Not a great lover of Irn Bru myself but I saw an article in the paper the other day which said that their sales are up in England. 7% I think. Is nothing sacred!!
Annie
Now they're attacking Irn Bru!

It's weel kent that Coca-Copa, Pepsi-Cola, and ither world "giants" in terms of carbonated soft drinks are less than happy that a wee company in Auld Scotia are the market leader there, never mind extending and increasing Irn-Bru sales south of the Border, and elsewhere (this from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irn-Bru ............emanday wrote:It used tae be aw us exiles and oor English born offspring that wur buyin it, AnnieAnn Wells wrote:HI Folks

Anniebut noo they are doing terrible things doo here tae it, like mixing it wi other stuff
Irn-Bru is currently manufactured in five factories in Russia, and is also manufactured under licence in Canada. Bru and various other Barr products are exported to Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, and Cyprus, as well as parts of Africa and Asia. It is available sporadically in Ireland, Belgium and, as of 2005, in Poland.

Aw no, not Irn Bru. Surely they canae dae this tae oor drink. Maybe we can blockade the cola, tango and pepsi.
I loved it as a kid, nowadays I dont drink it as much but I do still love the taste. I'm proud enough to come from the town where it all started, Falkirk.
I can also vouch for it being a great hangover cure.
Used it many of times after a night out.

Irn Bru
I love my Bru too. It came to Winnipeg Canada a few years ago( but I think it was just the syrup mixed with local water), and is a little different that the Scottish make. My kids and whole family love it, and I started giving tastes to my work mates and they really enjoyed it. Now many of them are off to the one store that carries it.
When we come home for a visit my first meal is always a fish supper and an Irn Bru. I always have to bring back tattie scones, club biscuits and other chocs, dolly mixture, tea, ( I feel like a drug mule!)
Long live the Bru- hey maybe we could send these posts to the company as advertisement!! Donna

We can occasionally get Irn Bru here in Australia but in plastic bottles which doesn't seem the same to me. The price is quite HIGH though, so we don't get it often. Apparemntly, for those in Victoria, Safeway has it sometimes.
And news of the day is that Victoria is lifting the ban on the sale of genetically altered foods....now where is THAT a good idea? UGH! Hypocrisy at its best!
