Glesgaw
Just having my usual nosey around, and clicked on to see the pictures etc of Glasgow.
I did not Glasgow very well, I was born & grew up in Dalmuir (near the tramcar terminus)
I have discovered though, from doing my family research that my grandmother came from Glasgow, she was born in Tradeston, daughter of Ezekiel McCulloch, she settled later in Port Glasgow where she married Joseph Hutton in 1898, she gave birth to my father James in 1896, he was illegitimate, so that would have been an awful thing for her to face in those days I imagine.
My grandfather was James Barr he came from Greenock, I have been trying to trace any information on him, but can find no trace after 1896 when he as living at 34 St Lawrence St Greenock, he seems to have vanished into outer space!!
I was quite interested therefore to see the various photos of Glasgow, and tried to picture Christina there, I don`t know where Tradeston was or what it would have looked like, but as I was born in a tenement building in Dalmuir, I can imagine what it would have been like, we stayed in Pattison St Dalmuir until 1943 when we moved into a council house.
I had no idea my family had begun in Glasgow, we learn so much about the family when embarking on family research, I have uncovered so many secrets (& skeltons in the cupboard!!)
I know that my mother first lived in Anderston Glasgow, when she & her parents arrived there from Canada in 1900, my maternal g.parents had both been born in England, but settled in Scotland.

Seeking any descendents from Ezekiel McCulloch, Port Glasgow, also Neil Barr (Greenock)

Maude,
Tradeston was [is] to the South of the river Clyde near The Gorbals, Kinning Park, Laurieston parts of the city.
Some Streets would be West Street, Cook St., Kilbirne Street. A look at :
http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/ will give you some images.
