Message from TalkingScot Admin Group .....

Post by AndrewP » Sat Aug 20, 2005 6:55 pm

As the current Chairman of the TalkingScot Admin Group, I have the task of giving you the message from the AG concerning the resignation of Dave Sloan. Some of you, having read Dave's message have been asking for a statement from the Admin Group. As such messages need to be approved by the whole group in their various time zones and edited on the way through it was not something that could be issued immediately.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson
Chairman of the TalkingScot Admin Group

----------------------------

It is with the greatest regret that the Administrative Group (AG) of TalkingScot confirms that Dave Sloan has decided to resign from the AG.

It is more than appropriate to give a massive vote of thanks to Dave Sloan for his tremendous and seminal contributions to the setting up and operation of TS.

TS has been a joint effort involving all 6 members of the TS AG, including Ina Gibbons (USA), Stephan Milosavljevic (NZ), Andrew Paterson (Scotland), Jean Pendexter (USA), Dave Sloan (England) and David Webster (Scotland). The analogy of a swan serenely cruising along comes to mind, yet we all know that there is a lot of unseen effort going on underneath the surface. This has been our model from the very beginning in terms of the original concept of TS and the joint contribution of the AG to the ultimate success of TS.

The five continuing members of the AG have every intention of taking TS forward into a successful future, and fulfilling the publicly stated objective of TS, namely, -

“The TalkingScot forum has been set up as a discussion site. The main topics of discussion are genealogy, Scottish history and culture…….. TalkingScot welcomes subscribers' suggestions, and aims to make this the premier site for discussion of Scottish research queries and problems for all those with ancestral ties to Scotland.”

The AG has the vision and is determined to take TS forward to achieve these objectives. The reality of the TS discussion group is that it is not one person, but the sum and interaction of its administrators, supporters, moderators and most importantly members, that will continue to provide the vision, direction and support to make TalkingScot the premier site for discussion of Scottish genealogical research.

Ina Gibbons (USA)
Stephan Milosavljevic (NZ)
Andrew Paterson (Scotland)
Jean Pendexter (USA)
David Webster (Scotland)
