mesklin & AnnetteR,
You must remember, we Scots whose ancestors left the homeland are a little slower in understanding the Scottish language. Maybe Micrscoft will have a Scottish Language update soon.

Once we pahk, I’ll take yah to the rechta of St. Mahgrets. The pastah is wicked nice. I’m shuha he’ll let us see the old receds and if wee'ah lucky we’ll find where you were bahn . Tammorah we can head down Maine. It’s not to fah. About a two owahs. We’ll have some lobsta, clam chowdah an con on the cob an yah don’t eat lobsta with a fok either. I’m sure Jean will join us.
Then it’s back to Bahston’s Fenway Park for a bahall game. I heeah Rawjah Clemins is one of the pichahs. But first we’ll have a beeah at the connah bah.

After, I’ll take yah to catch the train to Noo Yok. You can have a drink in the bah cah. On the way we’ll go by the hahbah an I’ll show you the wof. Wof? Yea you know a peeah, jutting into the hahbah. You know the hahbah where we dumped all the tea. Have a good trip.

It was nice to move back to the Boston area. Good to hear my “mother” tongue again.

Bob,

For a moment there I thought my son-in-law was posting on the site. He comes from Quincy and that is exactly how he speaks.

Ina,
Please remember, we do speak right heah. I know everyone thinks us Bahstonian’s tahk bazha but ya gutta remembah we know we’ah tahkin right cuz we was heah fahst. It’s not owah fahalt yuz guys picked up yah khakees, hopped inta yah fancy khas an moved outta state and took owah way of tahkin and fahauld it up as ya went west. Owah fathahs an muthahs took great pains in makin shuah we spoke good English.

I moved back little over two years ago after living in California for twenty-five years and I now find myself starting to pick up the accent again.
Small world Ina, as we would say heah, Quincy is the “next town ovah”. Ah yiz goin ta Quinsee tammorah? I'll trade you the snow storms for the minor earthquakes. I do miss those small shakes every once in awhile.

Bob,

when my daughter first got married she lived in Braintree MA, which is also in your neighbourhood. I dislike the snow and cold. Much prefer living here and putting up with the ground shaking once in a while.
