There are many well known beauty spots in Scotland, Edinburgh Castle, Eilean Donan, Loch Lomond, Trotternish, Old Man of Hoy. All of them are someone's favourites.
Gen. takes you to many new spots where we discover the places from where our ancestors originated and there we can find new terrain that my become our new favourite spots especially if it has an ancestral attachment.
I had one such moment when I stood on top of hill at the bottom of the Grampians looking over the heather filled slopes down upon the town of Laurencekirk in the Howe of the Mearns, Kindcardineshire.
However, I was in Scotland in January '05 and visiting old neighbourhood friends in Auchinairn near Bishopbriggs, when I looked north and there was the Campsie Fells as they were as the backdrop of childhood years.
To other's eyes they will not compare with most spots for majesty in Scotland, but they still filled me with awe.
Do you have such a place?
My favourite place in Scotland.

I think that's a very hard question because there are so many stunning places especially in the North but I am going to say driving through Glencoe with Pibroch music accompaniment !!

No contest lying in my Mum's spare room in Dalmuir & hearing all the familiar sounds around me.
Waking up & looking up to the OK hills.Such a feeling of belonging & at peace with the World despite the fact of the busy road & the railway.

That's an easy one. For me it's the view from the aircraft window on the descent into Glasgow Airport. You head over the river and the M8 is on your left. If we were on the right flight path, I would see my mum's house (in Linwood), before I even got off the plane.
I love the walk from the aircraft to the main terminal where there is always somebody waiting for us.
The most hated site is the above in reverse.
10 August can't come quickly enough. That's the next time I'll see my favourite view in the world.
Christine.

Like Ina I love the view over the Clyde but prefer it from up the Brae. Ther's a wee parking place put there specially for me!!! To see the the hills one behind the next, behind the next fading into the haze is a view I could never tire of.
For different reasons I also love the view coming over the hill into Quarriers village with the church and rooftops of the cottages peeping through the trees. Its the Land Time Forgot
Or sunset over the Summer Isles
Or Looking up the glen to the top of the Rest and be Thankful
Or.......How can you have a favourite when there are too many to choose from?
