Who is on TalkingScot, When? .....

Post by Russell » Wed Jul 26, 2006 12:42 am

Having just posted a couple of replies at half-past midnight on Tuesday I felt the site was a bit quiet so I looked to see who else was on........
No-one :(
I don't think that has happened since I joined this happy band.

It made me wonder if there is a record kept somewhere of usage patterns and duration of visits to the site ? :?

Tuesday evenings are quite busy usually as are Sunday afternoons but on a Friday night obviously even the joys of 'tree climbing' (or should that be descending down to your roots?) don't compete with a night at the boozer.

Or is it just that a week at work leaves you without the energy to do any exploring?
Perhaps my addiction is worse than other peoples?

I can't help it if I'm nosey :P

Hi Russell

You should live in my time zone.....I've been here all alone lots of times :( while you good folk are tucked under the covers!!

Not a nosey question at all......there are all sorts of interesting charting patterns and readouts to access behind the curtain. I'm pretty sure that on a weekly basis Sunday is the busiest day. On a 24 hour one then it certainly has to be the UK 5-7pm slot Last time I checked this current month of July was way down overall so I'm guessing it must be due to summer holidays and outdoor activities winning out! :D

Don't worry.....big brother may be watching but he's not divulging your reading habits

Take care
Jean

Well, here I am, at 59 minutes past midnight, only one of four logged in. I'll be online for a while yet as I like the "wee sma hours" and don't seem to need as much sleep these days.

Apart from that, this room is nice and cool late on. :D

Good morning!
it's 0635 and it's only myself and a guest!
Thankfully it doesn't seem to affect the speed or quality of the replies I get for my queries
I think it must be the time of year as several message boards I'm on are also quiet.
I like this time of the morning before anyone else is around

Hello JustJean

I checked and you are doing an early morning shift today.
Thanks for that info on the background statistics. Alot of ouir members probably don't know how much goes on in the background to keep a site like this running and its good to take a look at what goes on from time to time.

Should we, resident Scots, organise a shift system to cover what we would think of as the midnight hours so thee are some friendly voices coming out of the ether to you instantly rather than waiting till the sleepy heads get up?

Or would that spoil the amazing searches and insight that you can offer to the most difficult problems ?

Hello Russell

Ahhh.....inspiration and insight comes at it's own pace no matter what we might try to do to urge it onward. While a friendly presence is always preferable there is nothing to fear in the quiet spaces of contemplation.

How's that for your daily bit of wisdom? :D

Russell,

I am ofter the only one on the site. Due to the time differences most of Scotland is asleep when I go into the site. I usually catch the Australians and sometimes the East Coast of the USA.

Hello Ina

I think this comment should be on another thread namely 'How addicted are you?'
ON HOLIDAY and your fingers are twitching over the laptop. I know the feeling but now I know why my wife won't let me buy a laptop :D :D

Jean

I'm not capable of profound sillyfoffical thought just now. The heat outside is maybe good for the old bones but the rest of me is suffering. My brain is slowly melting !

The cool of a midnight shift might be good for thinking deep thoughts, though in my case I doubt it, so I may join you from time to time once work no longer beckons (only 4 weeks to go! Yippee :D :D )

Ina is not alone in checking in on TalkingScot while on holiday. If you check my postings over the past three weeks, they were all appended with where from. You may find Singapore, Sydney, various places in NZ and Hong Kong listed.

All the best,
