Post by Miss Poohs » Sun Dec 02, 2007 11:40 pm

have they gone up in price?

It's been a while since I've ordered one, but I'm sure the last time I did the cert was about £12, I was looking at one I may order, but it's saying the price is now £20.

Hi Miss Poohs
See:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/order ... icates.asp
  • Standard Service
Full certificate with GRO index reference supplied £7.00
    Full certificate £10.00

    Priority Service
Certificates will be despatched the next working day, provided your order has been taken or received before 4pm

Full certificate with GRO index reference supplied £23.00
    Full certificate £26.00

Note: Short birth certificates cannot be ordered online
Prices do not seem to have changed - look like somehow you may have selected priority service perhaps?

Best wishes
Lesley

Thanks Lesley - 'glad I asked.

Not sure what happened there, but it didn't seem right.

There are some 3rd parties who offer to provide English certificates - they add a substantial fee - perhaps you accessed one of these by mistake. If you need a vol/page number and don't have easy access to an index, many folks would be happy to check. :)

You can also buy from the local district, usually for the same fee of 7 pounds. They don't use the GRO numbers and have the original documents.

Hi All
I have just got a marriage certificate hoping to get some info from and it cost me £27 and was a waste of time because it didn't tell me anything I didn't know English records are rubbish compared to Scottish ones
