Anyone got access to Englisg death indexes ?

Looking for Edmund Bach died 21st October 1848 in London. Maybe buried in Kensal Green.

Hi Steiner

Free access to English death indexes can be found at http://www.freebmd.org.uk
Bear in mind that although the practice was introduced in 1837, all bm&ds were not recorded in England until 1875 ...so not all events will have been listed.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Steiner,
I had no luck either. Where did you get the information about his death date and place? Are you convinced that it is accurate?

All the best,
Sarah

Hi got the date of death from a book about him. The book contained items about staff at the British Museum. The Museum don't have any records about him.

Did the book say specifically that he died in London, or could he have been traveling elsewhere?
I see in the 1841 census he was a librarian (and musician? Can't read the M word very well--Ah, thanks, Trish-- B Museum it is! :D ))
Regards,
Sarah

Later: I found the book and see it just said he "sickened and died, 21st October, 1848, while in the
prime of life." Hmmm (where is that head-scratching emoticon we used to have...)

Do you have the 1841 census
Middlesex St Anne Soho - Leicester place
Edmund Bach 36 Librarian B Museum born Foreign parts

Ignoring transcript errors - he is the only Edmund Bach in England in 1841 :)

I've checked for a London burial with no success - but someone else may do better

Trish

Edit - sorry Sarah - didn't see that you had already checked the census. Here is a site for Kensal Green Cemetery - opened 1833
http://www.kensalgreencemetery.com/history/index.html - He is perhaps in the area for "dissenters" & may not be in the parish list - but that is pure speculation from me.

How about this:

Not sure where the Liverpool information came from, but maybe it's accurate. Having said that, I still don't see his death...

MMM...
According to

- so he died in his hometown Buchholz in Saxony after suffering from a long illness

Brilliant, Sally! :D Nothing like the old Vaterstadt when you're ailing  Makes sense. He may have still had family there.

Cheers,
Sarah
