Thanks Sarah ... I"ve got a horrible cold - does that call for some sunshine in Leith ? ..... on the other hand, it didn't work for poor Edmund...
On a brighter note, there appear to be some entries on familysearch for Edmund ......

Hi Sally,
Judging by the grumbling phone calls we've had from the in-laws in Belgium lately, it sounds like Leith just might feel like the tropics in comparison

On the other hand :!: I seem to recall that you also had a horrible cold when you made that Ruxton/Sola breakthrough for me, so maybe in the interests of Talking Scot, we should rather encourage your ill health :-

Sorry, didn't mean it (very much)

Hi Sally and all

Thanks for all your efforts. I found the book reference on Google a few hours ago before checking responses on TS.

I also noticed the entries in Familysearch for an Edmund Bach marrying Charlotte Myland in London in 1827 - with son born 1828. I know of another son , Robert born in London 1832. Robert turns up in Edinburgh in 1857 marryiny a local girl - appears in census of 1861 and died in 1862.

I'm trying to prove that Edmond died Germany 1848 and Edmond married 1827 are one and the same. On Robert's marriage certificate of 1857 he gives his fathers name as Edmund but occupation as "commercial traveller" - no mention of British museum. Funnily, the Bach children or Charlotte don't appear in 1841 UK census!

Hi again,
The Edmund Bach who christened son Edmund at St Sepulchre Holborn in 1828 was a Glover. His wife was Charlotte, so I think that rules out that couple, unless Edmund dramatically changed occupation.

Is the Robert you are looking for the Robert (7) who, with his brother William M Bach (5) is with Francis Davis, Chemist, and his wife Ann in Leominster, Herefordshire. in 1841?

All the best,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah - how did you find out he was a glover? Was there a mention of it in the marriage register?

I'm not sure about the Robert you mention - but it could be him.

thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,
It was in the London Baptisms on Ancestry.com.

Do I take it that Robert is the one you are really interested in? Is he the Seaman in 1861 with wife Eliza? What were his parents' names on the marriage cert?

All the best,
Sarah

Hi interested in all but Robert most of all.

The parents on the Marr cert for 1857 are Edmund and Charlotte.

Unfortunately, I don't see a baptism for a Robert to that couple. :( The only one is for Edmund 1828. It looks as though they left London before the birth of Robert or any other children.

Sarah
