Robert Manson and family .....

I'm trying to find the whereabouts of Robert Manson and his family. His wife was called Johan Manson nee Hendry. Robert was born in tongue,Sutherland. Johan was born in Latheron Caithness. They had a daughter Johan Mackay Manson who was born in Westoe Durham in 1883.
I have daughter Johan in 1901 census living in Tongue where she died in 1965. According to Johan's marriage cert in 1913 her father Robert was deceased but not her mother. Have been unable to find her either.
To add to this confusion I found this morning an illegitamite daughter of Johan Hendry(wife of Robert Manson)called Diana, born in 1873 in Watten Caithness. She is recorded in the 1881 census as living with her Hendry grandparents in Reay Caithness , but after that I can find not trace of her at all. Have tried various combinations,wildcards etc but nothing that i can see in Scotland.
Made me wonder if she went to England if her mother was still living there?

So if i could find Robert Manson and his wife Johan still living in England perhaps I could find Diana Hendry and possibly Johan.

How wonderfull! Thankyou so much.
It is very likely this is Johan,married again.
Some of the names ie Adam,Margaret etc fit as these were names of her siblings.

I'm going to have a busy afternoon I see!

Thanks to another kind lady I have located Johan Manson and her family in the 1891 census. She was listed as Mason!
Also in her household(boarding house)is a lodger,William Campbell, born in Scotland.
Howver in the 1891 census he is listed as Single,on the 1901 census he seems to have a son,William born c1883, unless this is Johan's son and the name has been entered wrongly, or a mistake in the 1901 census?

Anyway it's still another piece of the jigsaw in place.

Glad you have them on the 1891 - I did have a look but didn't spot them.

I took another look at the 1901 - it is entirely possible thet William was 7 not 17 - it's jsut there are so many marks on the page it's hard to be certain.
If he was 7 it could mean he was Johan's son too.

Hi there
I have just received death certificate of Robert Manson,died 1889, he died of typhoid fever at Fever Hospital in Hebburn South Shields.
Was wondering if it would be possible that there would be records of patients at this hospital and how would I go about looking for them?

I've also traced his daughter Johan, she was living with an aunt and uncle in Tongue all the time.

Still haven't found any trace of Diana Hendry though.

i notice you are having trouble finding Dianne Hendry. When Johan Hendry married Robert Manson in
Edinburgh and they shifted to South Shields, Dianne left her grandparents and came to live with her mother
and Robert Manson and changed her name to Dolina Manson.

My husband Barry Manson is a great grandchild of Johan and Robert and we have contacted Dolina Manson's
descendant who lives in Canberra.

If you wish for any more information let me know. You may have found this out sometime ago

Love the picture Kinsearcher.It looks like the road my sister lives in in Reay(she lives in what was the Police Sergeant's house).Wish there were fewer miles in between so I could visit more.
