More helpful sites for Australia .....

Post by Margaret » Sun Jul 17, 2005 5:46 am

Hello StewL
Here are a couple of sites that your readers will find really helpful with looking for family in Australia

http://www.awm.gov.au/
This is the war memorial site where you can actually check the war records from all the wars and order copies. I have done this and have made some wonderful discoveries.

This site is great if you have family that was sent out here as convicts and also as paying passengers with the first settlers onwards. The Colonial Sec Papers give lots of information.

Hope these are of help, great place this Talking Scot.
Cheers

I was given this site when searching for a distant relative.

If you think you have family that could have served in WWII then its worth a search for them on this site. It can locate by date of birth and place born which is very useful
