Looking for families that emmigrated to Australia .....

Hi.

I've been finding that a few of my Orkney twig emmigrated to Australia in the late 19thC and early 20thC . One surname in particular is Ritch.

I'm no help to you in your quest regarding Australia but I notice you have Mitchell in your list of names and their my main interest. Where were yours from?

Hello Tish,

All my Mitchells hail from assorted parts of Aberdeen eg: St. Nicholas, Logie Buchan, Old Machar, etc.

Oldest one I have a name & date is a Joseph Mitchell c1823-1878 & married Ann Brown April 14. 1844; Ann lived c1825-1909.

My Mitchells originated (for me) in Crathie and I found them in Strathdon, Banchory Ternan, Kincardine O'Neil and Aberdeen City. One came to Ireland and he was my g.g. grandfather. His sister Helen Mitchell was said to have gone to Australia but I've no idea when or how. That's why I got interested when I saw both Mitchell and Australia in the one message. Happy hunting!
