Hi Dennis,

14 Lecketthill Place, Cumbernauld, G68 9EQ (postcode not given on their website) is the Ismali Heritage Society. Also on their website at the same entry is the address of their chaplaincy centre in Glasgow : 65 Oakfield Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8LP.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Hi Andrew,

Apparently the residence used to be as shown on the webpage but is no longer used for that purpose. It is something that is called a 'councilhouse(sp?)'

A council house is a house that was built by the local government in the area. They all used to be owned by the local authority and rented out to folk, but "right to buy" legislation" going back to Magiie Thatcher means that in many areas, a high proportion are now owned privately.

Hi Dennis
I just noticed this post, I live in Cumbernauld but have not heard of Leckethill place.
Most of Cumbernauld have the G67 postcode but I know that the Wardpark area has G68 code, this part has mainly industrial units and is close to the upmarket Castlecary estate.
If you still need to find out I can pop up and have a look for you

Hi all, Leckethill Place is in the Westfield area of Cumbernauld from Westfield Road (main road) take Westfied Drive, Leckethill Place is the first on the right going up Westfield Drive. Nowadays it is in a housing scheme.

Hope this helps you.
