Glasgow Location.....

Anybody know where John Carriers Green was in Glasgow?

I've found a marriage that took place there in 1897, but I can't find any trace of the location and I'm beginning to think I misread it.

Hi Caroline,
The nearest "match" i can see is John Carrick Street.
It was in the Springburn area, and ran NE from the then Balgray Rd.
What district is given on the 1897 MC?

Hi Jack,

Ihe disrict given on the MC is 644/14, which I think is Govan is it not? The groom was living in Cathcart St, Govan at the time and the bride came from Polmont. Not much help I'm afraid.

can you post the image in the gallery ?

I've been completely stumped by this one #-o

but if it's Govan I may manage to work it out as I've the old OS map nd some knowlegable Govanites to consult.

Hi
I have a flat in Cathcart road and lots of info on the area.
Have looked at all my references and cannot see any mention of a John Carrier’s Green
Was the marriage oot o the Kirk?
If so which one?
That should narrow down the area search a bit.
I would assume that the wedding was in the groom's Parish.

I haven't got an image to post at the moment but will get one when I next buy credits for SP. I've convinced myself that I've got it horribly wrong though and when I take another look at it I'll probably see something completely different and be too embarrassed to post!
