Clapperton Hall Uphall West Lothian.....

Post by Jean Jeanie » Tue Mar 28, 2006 12:31 am

Just found some of mine at the above address in 1851.

Feel guilty as I came from the area but don't know where this is.

The first ones I've found who seem to be well off. They have a gamekeeper and 4 servants

Any ideas

Jean

Hi Jean,

Clapperton Hall can be found on a modern map at www.streetmap.co.uk if you search by postcode EH52 5PE. You will need to zoom the map outwards using the control below-right of the map to see a more meaningful map.

It is just east of Pumpherston (and nowadays a short distance south of the M8 motorway).

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

If you put the same postcode [EH52 5PE] into http://www.old-maps.co.uk

and chose the 'Linlithgowshire' option you'll see how it was in 1856.
